The Fab Four Unearth Some Central Illinois Treasures

It was great to get together with the guys again yesterday! It had been a long while since we had detected with Dave, he's always jet-setting off to Germany or England! But Digger Don, Noah and I finally cornered him and detected three small towns in central Illinois. It was a fun day!

Things started off rather slow at the first town but I finally got a 1953-D Rosie.

In the second town we eventually got a yes from a very friendly gentleman with a decent-sized yard. His two polite young kids watched us detect the whole time. They were very interested in what we found. In this yard I found back-to-back Barber Dimes 1903-O and 1912-D, and later a 1900 Indian Head Cent.

In the third town we finally got into a productive yard at the end of the day while Dave elected to stay in the park where he was having some luck with his Deus. (I had previously detected this park in 2015 and had much success there.) In this last yard I found a 1944-S Mercury Dime in the first hole I dug. A few minutes later I found a 1945-D Walking Liberty Half near the front sidewalk. I was thrilled with the Walker as it had been over 7 years since I had found one. My last find of the day was the padlock from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

It's always a ton of fun to get together with these guys and we all got some keepers!

Yes! It was fun to get the band back together for some awesome detecting and camaraderie. You had some great luck and great finds. Those two barber dimes are certainly early drops, and they were iffy signals at best. I had a great time hanging out with you and look forward to our next adventure. Best wishes and happy digging, Dave.
