I was wondering if anyone else has issues with there Pro Pointer having a temper. The contacts that touch the battery have to be spaced by a quarter and dime (I make due in the field ) Just to allow the pointer to work at all.

I stick some paper above the battery before I close the lid to get a better contact. Is that what you mean?

Yes, that was what I was saying I managed to get it to work with coins in the cap.

There are some 9 volt batteries that are slightly shorter than some others. Duracell is one.
I used a 1/2 of a folded up business card under the cap to take up the space. An Energizer 9 volt works without the card. At least it does for me..
pinpointers made in different years might have slight variations in the thickness of the rubber gasket.??? just guessing on this...
