Bell-Two

It wouldn’t be the 4th of July without it being a hot one, so for that reason Doug and I along with his nephew and son Malachi took off pretty early this morning. We rolled in at about 7:00am to our hunting site and started right in hitting a new area for us. The clad piled up quickly and Doug found the first keeper a 1929 Buffalo nickel. Next we moved back to the area that has in the past given us some real nice items but boy it is getting tougher. As Goes4ever said “I don’t think there is a high tone left there!” Well we did find more nickels but no more oldies, then Doug got a 1905 Indian head, about 10 minutes later I got one of those rare high tones and after a bit of trouble pinpointing it because of the iron and junk out pops a very pretty 1918-S Mercury Dime. Doug got a couple of wheats and then the heat just drove us out. So a good hunt on a great Holiday.
