Day started out pretty weak -- hit an old house that I thought had some potential, but bagged it after 90 minutes and only one wheat to show for it. The lack of trash indicated to me that the site has probably been pounded pretty hard.

When to another site that wasn't high on my list (just a non-descript field), but was on the way home, and pulled an 1801 Charles IIII 1 Reale . I've pulled some older coins than this elsewhere, but none in as nice a shape.

Also pulled this button at the same site as the reale. Its cool when they have writing in them to give you something to Google. It is also cool to find remnants of locally made clothing (or any stuff) anymore. I'm guessing 1880's on the button.

(one link and one old advert I found for the tailor below)

Holy cow that coin is sweet! Nothing better than making an amazing find like that from a place you didn't expect much from. Congrats!

Randy that is a great looking 1 reale :shocked04:stretcher: , we don't see alot of them in that nice shape . nice job on the
detective work for that button . congrats man

That is a fabulous coin!! Congrats!! It's in excellent condition too. And a very nice button as well. Terrific hunt!

That one is a beauty, Randy! I likely would have stayed detecting that field until midnight. lol Congrats! thumbsup01

SSS (Sweet Spanish Silver lol). What a nice find. I guess now that field moves up on your priority list  But what's up with the date? It looks like the engraver was drunk when he engraved that one  Glad your day went well!! Great hunt thumbsup01

Nice old finds thumbsup01 !! Was this with your V3??

Yes, V3. 6 inches deep. Nice dig me signal. VDI jumps around at that depth, but you can still tell it is a high conductive target by reading the frequency strengths.

As for cutting the hunt short, Villanova basketball takes precedence over everything else. At least that won't be a problem going forward :crying02: :crying02:
