got out twice in the last week.hit a old cellar hole that i been to before and wandered far away from the hole.found a vintage fishin reel 1898 v-nickel.
today (sat) went to another cellar hole and dug what i think is a 1749 King George II.front is wiped and appears to have been silver gilted on the front for some strange reason  a few buttons & a old enameled bar pin

A little bit of everything. Looks like 1749 in the picture. Interesting silver on the KG. I'll have to check back to see what you found out.

gilt or more of a silver wash , Dave .

gilt is a thicker process that doesn't come off very easy
wash can rub off pretty easily

i have found Georges with silver wash on them heres one i got several years ago

i doubt it Dave as the silver wash is a far cry from an actual silver coin plus the silver coins usually had a different back and denomination visible.no it had to be for another purpose , wish i knew .
