I dug myself silly this weekend at a whole slew of locations. Mostly hit some tot lots that had gone neglected in my month away from detecting. They were productive, but not how I would have expected. The '46 wheat, '40 nickel, and '43 Merc all came from different tot lots. The wheat and the nickel are not that unusual, but that's the first Merc I've pulled from a tot lot. It was right next to a metal pole and in the dirt beneath the mulch, but not at all deep. I'm not sure if it was there before the tot lot but if I had to guess I'd say it wasn't.
The V nickel (1911) was a nice surprise from a spot which in previous hunts has given up 3 Buffs, 20+ wheats, and only one silver (a Merc hidden under one of the Buffs). I'm guessing this spot has been hunted before and they left only wheats and nickels for me.
The two quarters and Rosie came from the dirt at different spots... all placed I've hunted many times before.
Total for the weekend was 344 coins worth $28.64 including the 4 silver, V nickel, and 7 wheats. My knees hurt but I sure did have fun.
Happy hunting!
