Took the Fisher F5 to the park area that had been a 1880-1940 gun club, where they had picnics and competition shooting matches. The park was built in 1956 after the original 100 acres was sold to a housing developer, and a subdivision was made.
I have been searching this 6 acre park and have dug silver coins, IH's, wheats, Buffalo nickels, older Jefferson nickels and many lead bullets and rifle casings.
These old gun clubs used to have a large hill of dirt close to 8 feet tall for a backstop for the shooting targets.
When the park was built--the dirt hill was leveled over an area close to 50 feet wide and 80 feet long. This is the ground where the rifle lead has been dug from.
Saturday I dug a silver quarter, a silver dime and 3 wheats from the dirt, along with some gun club items.

Today it was just lead and a few old rifle casings ( 32-40 Winchester repeating Arms Co.) these rifle casing were factory made from 1884-1940 when they ceased production. ( The same time frame as the gun club.)
