I haven't hunted in a while due to family commitments but today after a few errands, I was finally able to get out to beep today for about an hour. I hit one of my usual spots near my house. The weeds and bushes really came back in full force and the path I used to start out on was almost impassable. I only had a small hillside with full grown pine trees to work with. It was fairly clear ground under the canopy so that's where I concentrated my efforts.
This time out I used the Minelab Xterra 505. The sounds are much more pleasing to my ear than the T2, so I thought I'd give it a spin. The few solid targets I found turned out to be 22 caliber shell casings and one fired 22 round. With only a few minutes to go before I had to leave I got a solid signal in the high 20's range. Copper pennies usually come in at 39 at least. I thought it would be a Wheat penny because previous targets all were below the usual numbers. It took a while to remove the caked on dirt and I finally realized I found an Indian head penny. Yay!! happydance02 Those are pretty rare for me to find so I was a happy camper.
I didn't clean up too well at home and as far as a date goes, my best guess would be 1890. Thanks for looking. Happy Hunting! :groovy:
