May flies will not breed in contaminated or dirty water. We should be soooooooooo grateful. You have to totally black out at night when they are flying. Reason? If you have May flies, you are going to have spiders. If you leave your outside lights on it attracts the May flies. Next morning your house is covered with spider webs and dead May flies. Sucks! They only last a few months. We are so lucky!
