Well I found my first merc dime today. Its pretty beat up but hey its silver so I'm happy it didn't register as high on my AT pro as the roosy dime I found did that one hit at a 92 this one was reading 88.so far in my 3 months of hunting I've found two silver dimes a bunch of costume jewelry and about $30 in clad.
mercs are very sweet Carl |:cheering: |:cheering: did you post the story and picture in the Share Your Coinshooting Stories and Photos section ?? i'd like to see it and you'll get more replies there.

I think its a 44 its pretty beat up. And I can't see if there's a mint mark on it. But hey atleast I didn't nick it with the shovel this time. I'd post a pic but the camera on my phone isn't very good and I don't know how to transfer pics from my other camera to my computer. Trust me its not a beauty too look at I'm just glad there out there and I found one. I hope there's many more in my future.
Oh and thanks to the mod's for moving this to the proper thread. Sorry about that

I also found a mercury dime today 1916, what year was yours and how deep was it? My merc was 6 inches and read as a 86-88 on my ATpro. :)

Its a 1944 but its in pretty bad shape. I'm glad to see your AT pro is ringing them the same as mine. Its funny cause clad quarters hit at around 87. It was at least 8 inches deep I was just about to give up on the hole because where I was hunting was full of trash and I had already dug up several huge pieces of junk so I wasn't in the mood to waste more time on this one. I guess it goes to show you. You have to dig everything to be rewarded. I'm planning on testing its waterproofness this weekend

Very sweet find, you'll remember this find forever. For only 3 months you are doing quite well. Looking forward to your future finds.

Let me know how you do on the water hunt. Clad quarters up to 1990 ring up as 86-87's but all the new quarters ring up as 81-83's for me

I never noticed the dates on the quarters or what they were ringing up as by the time I dig the hole and find what's in it I've already forgotten what was on the display. Hopefully I'll have a lot of treasures to show after this weekend
