It has been a very hectic and busy week for me, I haven't had time to metal detect after work at all this week until today. When 5:00 finally rolled around this afternoon I was definitely ready to unwind and do some hunting. I headed to the park that I have been hunting lately. It is about 15 minutes from work.
They haven't mowed this park in over a week and the grass is getting rather tall, so I decided to hunt under some trees where the grass is shorter. After only ten minutes or so I got an iffy signal that sounded like a penny but it was fairly deep. After I got the plug opened up and some dirt removed the target probe produced a nice 13-46 signal, so I had my hopes up for a silver dime. Sure enough, a Barber Dime popped out of the hole! This was my first Barber from this park. Then only 5 feet away I got a very similar signal, it sounded like a deep penny. This time after I got the hole opened up the target probe gave me a 12-47. I was thinking it was probably a brass pipe fitting or something, but then I saw a Barber Quarter in the dirt!

It is my first Barber Quarter in almost a year. I found my last one on May 21, 2011. After the Barber Quarter I found a few wheat cents and an Indian Head that was only 4" deep. It was a pretty fun two hour hunt!
Here are today's finds before I cleaned them:

And after cleaning: The Indian Head is 1892 and the Barber Dime is 1912.

The Barber Quarter is a 1909-D:

I was thrilled to find a Barber Quarter! It had been a long while since I had found one. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!
