found this thing about a foot away from my 21st ct copper for the year but what is it ? .
its got a slight curve to it and its in bad shape but what i can see of it looks like a plume of feathers emblem .....could it be a hat plate ?.
cant tell what its made of but its heavy.

how big is the item Lee ?? if its heavy i doubt its a hat plate or badge as those are thinly stamped brass . but it still could be just as interesting and possivle its a military item. hey how about posting a picture of the back please.

looks like it's lead filled so that would definitly eliminate a hat plate.could be some kind of box plate or rosette depnding on how big it is.can you post a picture with a US quarter ext to it for size reference? and a photo of the back?
