Yesterday I was able to detect for a while at an old park. From there I picked up three silver coins - a 1849/1848 Seated half dime, a merc and a Roosevelt dime. I also dug up five Indian Head cents, but they are corroded.

The Seated half dime is an overdate, 1849/1848.

Today afternoon I headed to detect at a small park I had recently spotted. I had a great time detecting there, picking up 23 silver coins - 7 Roosevelt dimes and 16 mercury dimes.

The site also yielded two large cents. I initially thought they were in better shape, but my eyes deceived me. 8/

An Old Dutch Cleanser watch fob. It still had a piece of the watch strap, but it must have dropped off when I took it out to take photos.

Another incredible hunt, Angel! Wow, it must have been a ton of fun digging all those silvers! Had this park not been hunted very thoroughly before, or were the signals masked by trash?
That 1849/8 Seated Half Dime is a real beauty! It appears to be in wonderful condition! Very cool that it is the overdate variety too!
For us here in the midwest ANY copper looks great, because we rarely find them at all! I love the watch fob too. Nice that it still has the enamel on it.
Congrats on another fantastic hunt! :clapping:

Just an incredible couple of hunts Angel. :peace:
The 49/48 Seated half dime is an awesome find. :smitten: I definitely can appreciate it.
But my jaw drops to your 23 silver dime hunt. :shocked04: Can't even imagine how fun that would be.
With two LC's in the mix, I'll bet you were a little surprised Barber's and Seated's didn't find their
way under your coil.
Congratulations sir.

The lack of quarters or larger silver does suggest that the small park has been cherry-picked. It's actually more of a baseball field, with plenty of surface trash to deal with, though it wouldn't account for all the dimes being missed.

Yeah, I did hope for seated coins after picking up the coppers. However, the coppers were picked up at the fringes of the park. What may account for the coppers is that they were in an area that likely had been the original old open field, and the baseball field was added later, perhaps back in the 20's or 30's. The baseball field itself yielded nothing older than wheat cents.

WTG Angel, that sure is some fine hunting. Congrats on the overdate seated and of course getting 23 silvers from one park is huge. Once again our soil has soiled the coppers.

I have never recorded any of my hunts. ::huh:: I was always too focused on detecting. lol Besides, I very much doubt I would have dug the 23 silver dimes had I been recording the hunt. :thinkingabout: :)

What can be said that already hasn't? Simply awesome.
It does give me renewed faith that not all parks are picked out or close to it.
