This past week I was able to detect at some of the local sites later in the day and scored with several old coins.

The seven Indian Head cents are in somewhat nice shape. They should clean up well.

The large cent isn't in great shape, with corrosion on both sides. In worst shape is the 1816 Austrian Kreuzer.

Three mercury dimes, several Indian Head cents, a large cent, and a 1884 Canadian copper made for a nice hunt.

Today I had more time, so I was able to take a long drive to a small park I had worked two years ago. The place was quiet, making for a pleasant hunt. The finds weren't bad either. I managed to find four Indian Head cents, the oldest dated 1861, two mercury dimes, a 1852 Trime, three colonial coppers, two of the them are King George but on the third one I'm not yet certain. I also dug up a cavalry button, with golden gild still showing on it.

This makes the 8th Trime I found this month.

I had hoped for the coppers to be in better shape, but I'll take them anyway.

Well it's official.....all of the trimes have been found in this state. 8 trimes in one month and i have not even been with someone who had dug one let alone having one get under my coil (that i know of). Some nice hunting Angel, that Canadian LC is beautiful. Of course all the IH's silver and coppers are great also. Love to read your posts. Congrats

Once again, you have led by example, Angel! |)

Incredible finds, my favorites are the Trime, the Seated Dime, and the Indian Heads. I would love to see those Indian Heads after they are cleaned up a little. I agree with Joe, the reverse of that 1884 Canadian Cent is beautiful.

We bow to the master! |) thumbsup01

Astounding finds and the fact that you have found 8 trimes this month is awesome! I'm with Tony, would love to see how some of those IH's clean up, as your results cleaning coins are great! Amazing! And like Tim said, I think I must be swinging the wrong end of the detector too!

I did what I could to clean the Indian Head cents. The 1903 did not hold up too well, but it isn't completely corroded. The best of the lot is the 1873. It is a closed 3 variety (http://www.coinstudy.com/1873-indian-head-penny-value.html), which makes it an even neater find, and worth a bit more than the open 3 variety. Too bad the headband is worn. I'm left guessing if it may be the Doubled LIBERTY Variety (http://coins.about.com/od/US-Small-Cents/tp/Indian-Head-Penny-Key-Dates-Rarities-And-Varieties-Indian-Head-Cents.htm).

I agree, that 1873 is the best of the lot. What a terrific coin! Indian Heads from the 1870s are scarcely found here in central Illinois, it's a real treat to see one so nice. Very cool that it's the closed 3 variety too!

Thanks for taking the time to show the Indian Heads in their cleaned up state, Angel!

I'm of the opinion that Angel doesn't find bad stuff, just extremely old stuff. Angel you are one of the best. |) |) |)
