No SWHOS for me!

I hit the cornfield across the street again today. I did 8 furrows in the morning and came home with nothing but nails and glass. I ate some lunch and watched the Michigan State Spartans win the BIG 10 tournament and get their #1 in the brackets.
Then i decided to go back out and hit the field again. Well, after a bunch more nails,glass and pieces of iron from farm impliments, i hit something good!
I couldn't tell what it was without my glasses all i could see was a seated liberty figure and a date i couldn't make out (without more eyes). I thought it was a dime but the back looked funny :yes:. And there's a spot on the front that won't clean off.
Turns out to be an 1853 seated dime that was made into a pin. The back has a star and a bunch of fancy art work. This is so cool!!! And with it i avoided the silverless walk home of shame. rofl

What a great find. Was it common, back in the day, to convert silver coins to fancy works of art?

Thats a great find, I'd rather have that than a regular one. I wonder how that was done. The guy had to be an artist. :envious:
