View Full Version : Flintlock/Percussion Side Plate

Here is a pic of a side plate off a early flintlock/percussion rifle or shotgun that I found during yesterdays short hunt.

This is the second hunting related item I found at this site, the first being an ornate grip cap off a rifle or shotgun or end cap of a hunting knife, ( we never could make a positive ID ). I also found a 1729-1739 half penny at that time.

The side plate is non metallic so I believe it may be brass or bronze

hey Frank if you go to the club meeting this tuesday please bring it and the pistol endcap piece . i would love to see'em up close , all you need is a trigger guard and you'll almost have a whole gun .
