The mild winter granted an early start to the season this weekend. Temps got into the 40's although the wind was gusting up to 40-50mph. It's always a little odd getting back in the swing after a few months of winter. I started out in a tot lot, which gave up a buck or so in clad. I then headed to an odd spot I worked last summer. Targets are sparse, but silver possible. Finds were slow at first, and the E-trac seemed a bit wonky, but it settled down after a bit and I managed to dig a few wheats, followed by a '37 Merc! I've never found silver on the first day of the season before, so this felt great. I headed home a happy man. After lunch I hit a schoolyard for a bit more clad, but the temps were dropping and the wind was getting even more fierce so I didn't last long.
Total for the day was 70 coins worth $6.24 which included the '37 Merc and 4 wheats (1920, 26, 46, & 57). Other finds included a dog tag, a nifty rose tag, and an odd bit of metal which reads Whittles. It was great getting back out... temps are supposed to drop into the 20's tomorrow but hopefully I can get out again next weekend.
Happy hunting!
