Sniffy gave me a ring since he was down in my area he left work early due to high winds so why not go detecting.
we headed up to a cellar hole that I haven't spent much time at.
snow was a few inches deep but targets were poppin.
He did well in the coin dept.no coppers for me but by the well at 5 inches out popped this nice little gold ring.there are no markings inside what so ever.
any jewelry experts out there that can give me a time period based on the design I would appreciate it.All Jesse's coins were colonial. I also got a neat fish comb some flat buttons, one being a tombac & one zuoave (ball button) a busted colonial shoe buckle frame & chape and a .69 caliber musket ball.this ring has to have some age to it.
Oh! and the mutilated ox knob is made out of some white metal.never dug one in this composition.all mine have been brass

Great finds and pictures and that Gold ring is just INCREDIBLE !!!! I hope someone can verify a
timeline on it or even it's country of origin by it's style , I wouldn't be surprised if it was pre-colonial and brought over by the earliest immigrants here and that it had even passed down to them .
' I also enjoyed the photo of the Lichens ,It looked like a large flock of pigmy-albino turkeys with their tails spread out . lol Awesome post . :perfect10: :perfect10: :perfect10: :beerbuddy:

Oh my! :shocked04:

That gold ring is absolutely gorgeous, Dave! :wow:

Given the site where it was found it has to have some significant age to it. What a magnificent find!

Love it! :smitten:

hey it was windy out there :shocked03: did you hear the widow makers come down out there today ?? congrats on the relics Dave and the ring is a sweet one for sure :cheering: :cheering:

p.s. don't even ask , i'm not a jeweler :dontknow: lol lol

Dave, as usuall some great finds, especially like that gold ring. Hope you can get some sort of date range on it, congrats on all your finds.

I bet that was a big surprise. :shocked04:.. well an even bigger surprise than normal coming from a cellar hole. lol
Again another small pile of buttons too. Man you guys find alot of buttons! 8/ :shocked01:
Congrats!
Cool pics too as usual!

wtg Dave, that was one fabulous hunt. That ring is spectacular :perfect10:.It is a reminder to dig all low tones as well as copper.your my
hero for the day. thanks for the great pics.

with no markings on the ring makes me think it might have been home made, but it is sure pretty, nice find, wtg.

I cannot think of anybody who does not love to find old gold jewelry. That is outstanding, and I'll bet it was a real shocker after all of the iron and green brass.

Now I have to go back to the thread and investigate something..... I think I saw somebody who is a vampire?
