Got out this morning for a hunt with Captain Silver (From Friendly Forum) at one of his secret locations! I promised not to tell under pain of walking the plank! lol I was starting to find a lot of junk, but old junk, like the spoon and an old shoe (not pictured). That's when I came across the 1944 Mercury dime. :shocked04: Boy, I can't get enough of that shiny silver when it pops out of the hole when digging! happydance02 BTW, I passed last year's total of 6 silvers. Up to seven and it's only February! I should do pretty good this year.
Then I hit a spot with a modern Jefferson nickel right on the surface. After that I found a great looking ring with a pretty lady on the top in the same spot about 4 inches down. Not sure of its age, but it looks fairly old to me.
So, after a while the Captain comes over to me with a HUGE smile and I said, What did you find, a silver dollar? He says no but something better! He wouldn't even let me touch this one! \:hammer: But I got a picture of it. He's pretty sure it's a Connecticut copper coin. I can't tell though. He said he didn't even mind taking the silver skunk today because of it. Congrats!
The rest of the hunt for me was the usual trash finds, except for a 1956 wheat penny along with several memorials in one little area. Great hunt! :happydance01:
Hope everyone can get out and do some swinging in the dirt! Happy Hunting all!!! :groovy:
