Had to carry the truck into town for some repairs this morn. Wife followed me, took her to work. Then spent some time back at where the city had torn down two houses. This is where I found the WLH. Found some Clad. One Silver Merc. 1943. One wheat, 1955-D. A neat little toy gun. A couple of marbles. And some pretty cool tokens. The one that is really a mystery to me is the last one. On the front it has EXPOSITION UNIVERSLLE, 1889. On the back it has EPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, N.J.SCHLOSS & CO. Could really use some help on this one. Do you think 1889 is when this coin was struck? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Thanks for looking and HH

PS Just looked it up. The Exposition Universlle was a Worlds Fair that was held in Paris France May 6th to Oct 31 1889. These coins were struck for the fair. Now how do you suppose that a coin from the 1889 World Fair in Paris France ended up on a vacant lot in Mississippi. This is what I love about this hobby.

Some very nice recoveries, love that 1889 token. Now imagine....back in 1889 someone dropped it on purpose knowing that someone (you) would dig it up 123 years later. Congrats on the merc and wheat. Marbles are always a plus.

congrates on a great hunt, like the 1889 medal. I love to find old marbles, it still amazes me how many were lost.

I'd love to have a hunt like that. :smitten:
Always like to see a Merc come up... but the 1889 token is my favorite from your finds here. :clapping:

Sure would be an interesting story if that coin could talk. :-> :shocked04:

A super great bunch of finds of a great variety and very nice quality on the pictures .That French coin is super neat , it and the Merc are great examples of the pride that should be taken in designing coins (very artsy). That Fob/badge looking #7 thing must be from the Armour Meat company . Tokens and marbles too , way to go Cody!!
