I had a mission, 100 Indian pennies in one year!!! Was not the plan at the begining of the year, it just kinda sneaked up on me. Sweet.
It was a great day Sunday (in the middle of December), ground was moist and thawed, a light dusting of snow so you can do a good gridding pattern and know where you have been. I was at 97 Indians and needed 3 more for 100 with 8 hours of hunting time in front of me. Life is good. 7:00 in the morning and the hunt was on.
I had my 3 Indians and a Merc in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours into the hunt. That made the rest of the day gravy. The pressure was off.
Patric showed up soon after and we went looking for hot spots over looked the last 40 years. We did get to one spot that gave up about 8 to 10 wheats, a Merc, a Indian and a SLQ. I had a great time and thanks again Patric.
Sunday's haul was 4 Indians, 2 Mercs (1918d & 1825d) a slick SLQ, and 27 wheat pennies ( 2 of them 1909, a 1910 and a very nice 1917d) And a sterling ear ring as heavy as a silver quarter.
Have a great holiday all.
