I met up with Illdigger for a hunt on a cold snowy Wisconsin day. The property we were hunting is a private camp that Tim's family maintains. The day started out slow but it picked up after we located an old ball diamond that was once on the site. I started things out with a wheat spill an Indian and a buffalo. Then Tim hit the find of the day, HELL I might even call it the find of the year. Tim called me over to witness the digging of a 12-47 signal at 7 inches. I took out the video camera and got the whole thing on tape. It turned out to be a Barber half that is semikey date 1897-O. From the photos Tim posted I would grade it at minimum VF20. You guys with price guides look it up. I had to look 3-4 times and I could not believe what it valued at.
Back to my finds, I hit my first silver shortly after Tim's half it was a Rosie. After a quick lunch and a few more wheats I walked over to a big tree that was calling me. I hit a Merc withinn minutes and then managed to get 3 more Mercs, a barber dime, 2 Rosie's and several wheats in the area of that tree. It kept me busy for the reminder of the afternoon and I suddenly forgot about the cold and sloppy muddy conditions. I also found $2.21 in clad.
I want to thank Tim again for the invite and it was a thrill to be a part of such a fantastic find.
