I was not the lucky one today but I did manage to find a couple keepers and a interesting penny. The Buffalo is a no date, the V nickel is 1901 and the copper cent is unkown. I thought I managed to see a Indian head but was unsure. The odd part with the unkown copper is that it rings up at a solid 12-21 on the Etrac-o-meter. The 1863 IH rings at 12-25 and a 1858 FE penny 12-24. I guess another unknon copper for the collection. Various headstamps and bullets included. Thanks for looking.

Nice finds and good job getting back out there again! Too bad that fertilizer and field dirt eats those coins up so bad.

Those numbers sound awefly low to be copper. :thinkingabout:
I'm thinking it's a fatty! And the reason for the lower than usual numbers maybe from the excessive wear/ corrosion to the coin :dontknow:
Thats my guess :dontknow: lol I know these field coins sure do take a beating crying01
Still a great hunt with some stellar finds!! thumbsup01
Congrats

Glad to read that you got back out there. Yup, the fertilizer can really eat up copper. Nice recoveries.

Great hunt Jr. Love the old nickels. Try air testing an IH dated after 1865. IH's 1863 and earlier will ring differently than the later ones.
You found a couple of old musketballs too. :peace:
Congrats.

Great finds even if they are field toasted.

Nice hunt I love hunting the old fields. It's too bad the chemicals do a number on the coins condition.

Great finds!
Did another air test on all the pennies I have 1863 IH and 1856 FE were the closest. Still rings solid between a 12-20 and 12-21. Still a mystery to me.

Nice finds thumbsup01 I sure wish those buffalos and esp V nickels wouldn't look so rough after being in the ground for 100 yrs...
