View Full Version : Before and after shots of my 1817 George III Half Crown

Went to the local beach last night and besides digging about 60 WW2 bullets had a very iffy signal so thought i'd better dig it as you know know what it may be. When it was out i still didn't know excatly what it was before i cleaned it and let me tell you...it was not an easy task.

well i started with electrolysis but as that wasn't cutting it i thought i would try the foil trick and what a difference that made. Using the foil turned the coin black so i just used a bit of dish soap and a toothbrush to remove the black.

I would never have guessed thar coin was even silver let alone had that kind of detail. beautiful coin.great job :clapping:
