Wednesday I tried a new site and just got a bunch of clad. Unlike my son, I don't have much luck in sports fields. Today started out not so well as I either couldn't find my first site or it was developed. I had errands to do and didn't have much time afterwards so I went to 'my woods' in the afternnon where I previously had found a lot of buckles and it wasn't much different today. In addition, I found what looks like the head of a digging tool and surprise, surprise, also a dime which I initially thought was a clad because it was all black when I found it. After realizing what I found, even though not in great shape, it was happy dance time again. :cheering:
Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

Nice huntin'. A tarnished Barber is better than no Barber at all! Keep it up! :clapping:

Looks like your barber got a close shave. rofl
Still a beat up barber coin is better than a SDHoS.
Sweet find!!! :peace:

It's always fun to find a Barber, even if they don't win a beauty contest! A careful cleaning would improve the looks of that one dramatically. At least it's an older one from the 1800s too!

Nice! :clapping:

That is a real nice dig! Certainly a great reward for sticking with that one spot you've been working. Was the barber the only coin you dug on that hunt? That would be pretty cool.

Here's a link to a good method for getting the grey off that dime:

I have used that method on all of the silver coins posted here and it worked pretty well:

I also have a feeling Santa will be getting you his favorite silver polish this year (for jewelry).

Congrats on another great dig!

And yes, I'll take a beat up old coin any day.

Yes, that was the ONLY coin that I found. Considering the size of the area, what are the odds that I would swing the detector over that one spot? I guess that what's so great about detecting.

Polishing my finds is a definite winter project for after the ground freezes so silver polish from Santa would be awesome.

Thanks everyone for taking time to comment.
