I went back to my friends restaurant to hunt the dry beach area in hopes of finding some more gold. I did not find any gold but managed some silver and wheats. The beach is only 9 feet wide by 100 feet long and has not been used as a beach in years. The silver was as black as can be so I cleaned it up so it looks nicer in my book. It's funny the wheats near water are nice and shinny and the silver is black, just the opposite of inland The silvers are Mercs 1-, 42, 45, Rosie 52-D and a war Nickle 42-S.

I'd call that a successful hunt! Must be a fun place to detect too, being that it's a long, narrow strip. You can just walk in a long, straight line, and then turn around and do it again. After a few long walks, you've about covered the lot of it. Walking perpendicular as a secondary grid would be a bit jerky though...
Good hunt! happydance02

It is a fresh water beach and I just tumbled them for a hour and then used soap and water. Keep in mind I would never do this to a coin that was of any value. I don't sell any of my finds and they just look nicer in the book I keep them in.

No silverless drive home of shame for you. <:
Try this Method (http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/index.php?topic=813.0) for removing the sulfide build up. It works incredibly well and leaves a natural looking patina.

Very nice hunt! It is funny how shiny those pennies can be sometimes in those conditions. Congrats on pulling those from that small beach area probably overlooked by others in the past.
