I hope that I'm not boring too many people with the clad posts but hopefully I'll get better stuff in the future.
Last night we got our first snow which left about 1.5 inches on grassy surfaces. I really wanted to get back to that small park that yielded all those quarters on my last hunt so I headed there for my first site. Z118 had told me about detecting on snow covered grass and he was absolutely correct about it being messy. The soil really held the water and holes quickly became puddles and my equipment quickly became covered in mud. I was there for about 2.5 hours and left after messing up my second hole. On my first visit there were town employees planting a tree and they didn't mind my being there so I don't want to give them a reason to change their minds about detecting the park. While I was there I found 18 quarters, 9 dimes, 18 pennies including a wheat which really surprised as I didn't think that there would be any old coins.

My second site was a very old park that I had detected several times finding only clad and a couple of silver rings on different visits. This time was pretty much the same. I found 2 quarters, 5 dimes, 24 pennies including 2 wheats and a silver (.925) Celtic Claddagh ring which my wife identified for me.
One of the wheats is a 1920 which gives me hope that there may be more oldies in that area.

Thanks for looking.
