Living here in Kentucky- I am a big fan of U.K. Basketball :cheering: (need dark blue pom-poms) lol Yesterday I found this 1948-49 Dixie Ice Cream U.K. basketball schedule about 8 deep! I knew these were special years for U.K. because my buddy Dave (Hillbilly Dave on here), found one near the same tree stump earlier this year when we were hunting old city park together!

March 23, 1948
Adolph Rupp’s “Fabulous Five” wins UK’s first NCAA Championship, 58-42, over Baylor. The team is met in Lexington by 15,000 fans and given a parade on a fire truck.

August 13, 1948
The U.S. Olympic basketball team, featuring Kentucky’s “Fabulous Five,” wins the gold medal by defeating France, 64-21, at Wembley Stadium in London.

March 8, 1949
Kentucky ends the year ranked No. 1 in the first season of the Associated Press basketball poll.

March 26, 1949
UK wins its second consecutive NCAA championship, defeating Oklahoma A&M, 46-36, in Seattle.

Just had to add that this is the next house on my agenda! I finally got permission here and will be hunting ALL DAY next Tuesday :happydance01: And we just had a really good rain. So maybe you'll see this house again on my next thread with lots of goodies! It was built in 1830's. I absolutely love these old VACANT houses in the middle of nowhere. And it feels safe because there's a friendly older couple living in a trailer to the right of the house. Although they will prob come out and talk my ears off lol That's the best way to learn the history of the land though...

and leads to other places thumbsup01

Sweet token :smitten: I never seem to find tokens around here (except Chuck-E-Cheese >:# (which apparently there is a collectors market for, go figure )).

I wonder if tokens were just less common on the east coast. You don't see too many east coast people posting them.

Thanks Al! Good luck at the old farm maybe one or both of us will find a beautiful LC :) and lots of silver and gold coins- perhaps a cache! lol it's fun to dream, I think the mystery of the dig makes this the best hobby in the world.

Very cool token! Good luck at those sites on future hunts!

Uggh I find a lot of those too >:/ and Gattitown and Namco... but I do find a lot of aluminum merchandise and good luck tokens here in Ky. Those are the ones we want to see! Oh and I found first coal script. I bet you don't find them in your parts?

well found, bet it'll clean up nice

Actually I might need some advice on how to clean better- see pic below, the rusty parts. Know what to use to spiff it up? All of my aluminum ones have the brown in the crevices that look like rust.

very cool token , i love finding tokens .... great find

Thanks Dave! I remember a lot of yours on here

Let us know if you find something good, like a Fighting Illini token. :poke:

Ha ha, just kidding, Tana! That's a really cool old token, and it's HUGE! Neat that it has the date on it too, most tokens don't.

Very interesting find! Thanks for showing it to us! thumbsup01

Despite living in Lexington for the past 4 years, I am a big 10 Iowa Hawkeye girl through and through. :) Can't get into the Kentucky sports.

But a great token for sure!!! That house looks like an excellent opportunity Tana. Looking forward to some more great posts from there :happydance01:
