We got up and out early this morning. Theola got us permission to hunt a new place.
It's a old farm house that's on our old maps ;)

We were there less than a half hour and Theola found a1937 Walking Liberty half :shocked04: Slightly worn...but a great start!
He put the pressure on early 8/ lol After finding a few wheaties in a little area I started to do a circle and grid technique in the area. I got a quick chirp that got my attention
Diggin' down I find this :shocked01:
http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/IllDigger/IMG_0958.jpg
After a closer inspection...it looks like the back of a Merc! :happydance01:

Along the way I also picked up a nice 1907 IH thumbsup01 About a hour later I got a broken, deep sounding, penny signal. The E-Trac was showing 12-43 to 13-46 around the 9 to 10 inch marrk  :shocked01: . But it sounded more like a penny than a quarter. Right about the 9 inch mark the PP was sounding off loudly!
Prying up the soil from the bottom of the hole I see this come flipping up outta the dirt! :shocked04:

:daydream: When was the last time someone held this in their hand? :thinkingabout:

Here's a cleaned up picture of my second ever Large Cent! thumbsup01

We dug a ton of trash too. I gave a couple of toy cars to the little boy who lives there.
Here's a couple other items I kept.

We had great weather all day. And we even brought home a few great finds!
Thanks for lookin' & HH everyone :groovy:

Nice trifecta Tim! I also like that Lubricating thingy. Are you going back to that place or did you guys hammer it pretty hard? Maybe try the field once the crops are down too. I'm jealous of your LC. The one I found is also 1854 but it was made into a washer and looks more like a copper slug than a coin! Congrats and HH, Dave.

Congrats on the tri-fecta, Tim, and especially that large cent! It came out of the ground looking pretty good! I have found two also, but my last one was over 25 years ago. crying01
Nice looking Indian Head too, and an older Merc! Add lots of wheats and that makes for a really fun hunt!

Wow! Those are some great keepers there Tim. The large cent is fantastic, big congrats on that one, they just don't come along that often around these parts.
Great digs! That Merc has some great details. The Indian head looks 100x better than most of the wheats I dig. And the large cent is fantastic! Congrats!

You had yourself a great hunt. I can relate to the presure of a hunting partner finding a WLH right off the bat. You recovered well with your trifecta. That LC looks pretty good. Congrats

Great job Tim, isn't always neat to see a Large Cent in the hole, there are more valuable coins for sure but nothing speaks to me about a different era of time more than a Large Cent.

Are you going back to that place or did you guys hammer it pretty hard?
Both. :groovy: We hit it pretty hard, and we're going to be going back  lol We have permission to come back whenever we want. But we want to give the yard a chance to heal up a litttle. Plus we're hoping for a good rain....then go back! thumbsup01

Now asking when the last time the LC was held is a fair question. Probably before you Grandfather was a gleam in your Great Grandfather's eye. Wonderful hunt and some really great finds. Congrats. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
