ok i found this bullet the other day and ive not got a clue what it came from ? any idears folks ?
i dont think its old but i may be wrong.....found it 1 inch deep in a kids play ground !!!!

the bad is finding it in a tot lot the good it doesnt look to have been fired or used LOL
i dont know anything about guns....sooooo that would put a rather large hole in you right ?
it dont look much like the bullets in the picture there,so could it be old ?
when did thay start moving away from the more traditional civil war type bullet ?
im like a kid aint i......all questions............are we there yet...are we there yet....are we there yet........

I found a .50 cal bullet in Wyoming one time, walking around looking at some outcrops on a geology field trip in college. During WWII, they used rural Wyoming for training grounds, shooting .50 cal machine guns from the planes. I found a half dozen .50 caliber casings laying on top of the ground throughout the course of a week, but only one bullet like the one you found- wedged into the side of a friable sandstone outcrop. It was pretty cool!

it dont look much like the bullets in the picture there
I don't know much about guns either, but I believe what you have there is just the slug (top part) without the casing (bottom part).
