Skeptical

Well, i had a good run with five trips in a row to the fairgrounds finding silver. My sixth trip was yesterday and the only silver i found was a bent up plated spoon that alot of the plating was coming off of. I did manage to find $2.03 including 1942 and 1958 wheats.
Today i went back out in the freezing temperatures (62 degrees lol) and found 35 cents including a slightly green 1958-D wheat.
But why i'm skeptical is because on my second trip out with my E-trac i found a chain marked 14kt Italy that i took to the jeweler to have him look at it. Only to hear It's not real.
Now today i found a chain marked 925 Italy and i can only hope that it's not fake too!

You probably safe with silver...not too many fakes of that.....yet

I took an anklet I dug up to a jeweler -I wasn't sure if white gold or silver (it rang up in gold vdi range) :confused: prob due to the little bells on it. He said it def wasn't gold. He assumed it was silver but stated there's no test for silver. And since the clasp was missing prob said 925 or Sterling on it, no one will buy it.

Long story short, I don't think there's a chemical test out there for silver. :dontknow:

Au contraire tana - Get a bottle of this and test all silver. Put a small drop on the suspected silver , let it dry & try to wash it off. Silver won't let it wash off. Most jewelers use this for darkening designs & such. Steve in so az

You can also buy silver test acid and test it like you would gold. It means using a file to make a groove in your anklet. But if it's broken that shouldn't matter.
And then you will know it has value! Jewelry stores should know how to test it too! You probably took it to a maroon. (Buggs Bunny reference) rofl

I agree lol I'm pretty new at this, but I was sure there must be some sort of chemical test :twirlingeyes: in this day and age. Or maybe he was just saying HE didn't have any way of testing it there.
