made plans for George(coinnut) to come down my way and look for an elusive mountain top cellar hole. at 7am like 2 billy goats we made the climb :blush: and a climb it was! :omg: never located it so we headed back down to bottom and hit 3 colonial sites that fastfrank and myself had worked in the past.today tagets were poppin! :happydance01: amazing what some rain will do thumbsup01
frank met us at the lower sites at 9am.everyone got some keepers!
my day was pretty awesome! 1 lead poker chip? has beeded rim.2 large cents.1829 matron head,looks like a worn 1798 draped bust.then i got a 1911 barber quarter and the highlight to end the day was my 1st capped bust half dime.she still has mint luster around the stars on obverse.2010 redbook lists it at $250 in AU.
i'd say it's close to AU.what a day thanks George & Frank for another great hunt! always a pleasure to hunt with you both.

You know, it's funny. You've got four coins there, and three out of the four individually would make my year! (And the Barber Quarter isn't far behind, LOL!) And you found them all in one hunt!
But that Capped Bust Half Dime is mind blowing! WOW! :drool:
What an incredibly beautiful coin! Such spectacular detail! It must have been dropped in 1834 or soon after. Isn't it wonderful how silver that has been in the ground almost 200 years can come out looking like that?!
It's also a nice added bonus that the date is perfectly legible on the well-worn draped bust large cent!
Kudos to you, sir, for the amazing recovery! :clapping:

Another great hunt, and some really beautiful coins. I was amazed at how small the half dime is. I've seen pictures, but never one with someone holding one. Great Job! :perfect10:

You were on fire today Dave |:confused:) |:confused:) |:confused:) lol Congrtas on that double copper coin drop and the Barber Quarter is always welcomed :yes: But that Half Dime is :shocked04: :shocked04: :shocked04: :shocked04: :shocked04: Stunning. You did great today, it was definitely your day to get the goods :cheesysmile: I'm kinda psychic on that date of that half dime aye? lol It was a great day out, almost no bugs and except for that couple hour climb through the mountain laurel :eyebrow: It was fun rofl I didn't have that kind of killer day today, but I had a good one too.
The junk was moderate today
[attachimg=1]
The good stuff was sparse
[attachimg=2]
Managed a nice little decorated button
[attachimg=3]
Found this tag of some sorts, but it is kinda neat. Found with the inline probe
[attachimg=4]
Found a Connecticut Military Button. A bit squashed but still has a bit of color to it
[attachimg=5]
The half cent was a nice surprise at 7-8
[attachimg=6]
[attachimg=7]
Cleaning it exposed some pitting, but has a readable date of 1807
[attachimg=8]
[attachimg=9]
Thanks Dave and Frank for some fun time detecting :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Both of you guys found some extraordinary keepers. Love the silver and early coppers HMN. Especially the half dime. <:
You pulled great ones too George. My favorites are the half cent and button. :smitten:
