got a 1914d barber dime ,1927 merc , 1903 indian and a few wheats and these 2 items , one is a ladies compact and the other i think is a hand held sundial, maybe , and ideas

That sundial thing is really neat- looks like Egyptian pics on it. No words etched anywhere/on the edge of it? I bet the blown out part was a compass.
I bet someone on here has found one like it or knows for sure what it is.

It is a pocket sundial, and Tanacat is correct, the smaller round part held a small compass. My dad has one very similar to yours that he has had since he was a kid.
