Howdy Diggers,

I went back to that 1850's farmhouse I have been hunting for a month now. You might remember it has given me my first Barber Half, my first Shield Nickel, my first large cent, and now it has given me my first seated coin!

I was detecting the same area where I found all the coins last Sunday. The ground is still very soggy from all our rain and the deeper signals are coming through very well. First, I found a 1910 wheatie, then a 1919 buffalo nickel, then a 1919 wheatie. All very deep (greater than 9 inches) and with very low numbers on the e-trac (i.e. 9-32, etc.)

I was working around a large tree and got a 10-32 at 8 or 9 inches. It was very iffy and almost sounded like falsing. I had the sensitivity set at Auto +3. The signal, although weak, was repeatable, so I dug. There were so many roots, it took 10 minutes just to get a hole open. Finally, just when I was about to give up, my pinpointer got a strong reading under a BIG root. I scooped out the dirt with my hand and saw a silver rim. I could see the back of a dime and thought Alright, another Barber! Then I remembered that seated dimes have the same back as Barber dimes. So, I very slowly turned the coin over and there she was! Wow an 1890 dime! It looked like it might be in pretty good shape so I didn't wipe it or rub it.

When I got home, I cleaned it up and saw that it was in almost uncirculated condition! It looks like there is a small scratch on the front but it's not from my digger (thank goodness). Here's a couple pics, the video will be out in a day or two. Thanks for looking and happy hunting! Dave.
