I don't normally hunt much in the summer but work has been slow lately and I felt like getting out. The last couple of days I spent in a local park that I have hunted many times. Not much found, just a few dollars in clad, 7 wheaties, and a 1954 rabies vaccination tag.

Today my wife had to attend a conference downtown so I thought I would hit the woods and try to find some silver. Had no luck for close to 2 hours. I happened to be near the area where I had a surprise find of a fat gold bracelet late last year.

Now, the wife and I had been over this area many times, especially since I found the bracelet. I wasn't expecting anything but you never know.

My Vaquero signaled a good target that with a turn of the knob told me was in the gold/nickle range. I dug a few inches down and holy smokes! another gold chain! This time it was a 14K necklace. Not as thick and heavy as the bracelet but weighed in at 19 grams and is in great shape.

I am scratching my head over this but not complaining. 2 big gold finds in the middle of a woods sure is strange.

This is a pic of the 14K bracelet I found last year in the same area.

That's why there is still plenty of treasures to find these days. Good targets are everywhere. It is us detectorists that talk ourselves out of hunting certain places. Your gold finds may have been part of a robbery and hidden there or lost on the way from somewhere. Or it could have been a lovers's lane of sorts and got lost in the tussle lol But it is very odd to find two great pieces in that area. Far from coincidence :thinkingabout: As someone said, go for #3 because the odds just increased for finding some more. I would detect a bit slower, as any more gold jewelry may be of the smaller kind. If you score another piece, I would say you have found where little junior took mom and dad's jewelry to play with, and lost it :shocked04: Great piece!! |) |)
