Today I hit a new site, one located here in MA. It was a bit of a distance from my house, but I had to try it out sooner or later.

I arrived at the site at about noon. Though there are roads on both sides of the small park it was pleasantly quiet, with hardly any traffic to speak of, perfect for detecting such sites. But there was one problem - biting gnats! :hairpulling: They were all over me! :shocked01: I continued detecting and soon found a mercury dime, but those gnats had me thinking of leaving the place. :crying02: Then I picked up a 1908-D Barber dime. At that point I said okay gnats, I'm not leaving, so bring it on!! :boxing: :boxing: Then they proceeded to beat me up mercilessly. rofl rofl But at least I left the park with several keepers.

Well, what have we here?

Here are my five silver coins of the day, which includes a semi-key date 1893-O Barber dime. :happydance01:

The reverse of the 1893-O Barber dime.

And I did dig up one large cent, dated 1834. :happydance01:

Also among the finds were four Indian Head cents and five wheat cents.

How many gnats did you take home with you. Now you know why them coins were still there, the park is patroled by gnats lol Beautiful 1901 Quarter...I hope there is an S on it   It was worth the trip and what does it hurt to trade a bit of flesh for some silvers :shocked01: You're happy...the bugs are happy...everyone is happy thumbsup01

Nice... glad to see you pushed through the gnat thing. |)
Those pesky buggers can certainly be a nuisance. Looks like you were rewarded big time.
Those silver coins would have me doing the happydance2.0. Unlike anything you have seen. lol
