Silver Dime Trifecta - And More

After digging up 11 Indian Head cents from the small park during yesterday's hunt, waiting for the weekend just would not do. :cheesysmile: I couldn't wait to get back to see what else I could coax out of the ground. I did well again, though this time the wheat cents outnumbered the Indian Head cents - 26 wheat cents to 7 Indian Head cents. I had a better day with the silver coins, picking up a total of five, a silver 1876 Norway 25 Ore, a 1883 Seated dime, a 1911 Barber dime, a 1900 Barber quarter, and a 1942 mercury dime. :happydance01:

Here the Seated Liberty dime was wrapped in soil before I liberated her. :smitten:

This one was a very nice surprise; it's a Norway silver 25 Ore.

Man Dan, you had me thinking that perhaps I had found an overdate seated. :drool: I took a closer look with the loupe, and while the second 8 looks a bit odd, it isn't an overdate. :crying02: I still love her though. :smitten: Thanks Dan! thumbsup01

I looked it up, but Breen's doesn't have anything listed for that years other than minor positioning variations from die to die. But Breen's is an old book by today's standards. I'm not sure who specializes in Seated coinage...but there is someone though :thinkingabout: Sometimes it's not just overdates that are found, but also inverted dates or just misaligned dates (too high or too low originally) The spot that looks suspicious to me is the rounded part to the right of the 1. Nice close up by the way thumbsup01
