Got out yesterday and today, mostly hit some of my favorite schools that I've hunted many times before - really just shooting for a final couple hundred coins to get me to 10,000 for the year.
Well... I got them. Total of 244 coins between the two days which includes 6 wheats, a nice old Canadian penny, and a 57 nickel. The Canadian penny is the oldest I've found and the first with that design on it. So that puts me at 10,012 coins for the year, including clad, old coins, wheats, silver, foreign coins... basically everything.
I was also very lucky yesterday to score a nice little 10k ring in the dirt. It gave an awful signal; I honestly thought it was going to be a dime and a nickel right next to each other. I'm glad I dug, and there is not much better than gold!
It was pretty cold both mornings, the ground was well frozen in spots especially this morning. You never know what the weather will be like but I am likely more or less done for the year. I've got many things to do on the weekends as the holidays approach and I think my wife is pretty much done with my detecting for a while too. Though she may feel better when I cash in the clad and hand her the money.
Anyway, happy hunting!
