There was still quite a bit of snow in this woods that I met my brother at but it'll be gone before long. I did manage to get a few coins there though. If anyone has any idea what the Ashcroft thing is, I'd appreciate your knowledge. When I do a Google search on it I come up with gauge's the mfg. made, it looks like an old part to a woodburner or stove to me.

Looks like it hooked over something on the right... to open and close the door on a grandfather clock?
Very cool piece, it's in such good condition!

I was thinking the same thought, the left side looks like a swivel point and the right the locking point :thinkingabout:those woods sure put out some neats finds for ya Larry, nice hunt!! thumbsup01
