Wish I could say it was added to my collection via the DFX, but with all the snow and -25ºF temp :frozen: that just isn't the case.
I acquired this coin from my Grandfather - his parents held onto it from the day he was born in 1921 - he passed on in 2004.
He was a POW - Japan during WW2 - if anyone is interested in reading a great 50 page story as he tells it, you can do so HERE. (http://merletucker.org/story/1219DaysInHell.pdf)
Either way, I am happy to have a Morgan in my small collection. :peace:

Then you would truly appreciate the heft of the Silver Eagle.
Picked up an un-circulated 2005 (31.1 grams vs the morgans 26.7 grams)

Thanks for sharing the story. I read all 53 pages and was touched deeply by the strength and determination your grandfather showed in the face of great adversity. Truly a member of the greatest generation.

Awesome Morgan.... that one is truly priceless.
Love the ASE's. About a month ago I stumbled upon a bank that was selling them for about $10 below silver value :dontknow: and bought all they had in stock. They are nice coins.

Yep that one will be great to pass on as it already has some history to it with your family, the ones you find are only on the first generation starting from the person who found it.

A great heirloom indeed, very nice! Can't wait to read the stories! As with my own grandfather, I truly admire the determination of folks in that generation, it's inspirational and we could all stop a moment and take time to learn a thing or two from them!!
