Hit my favorite woods twice this week. Found my first old pocket spill: 1917 Walking Liberty, Buffalo Nickel and a '39 wheat. Next time out got a 1918 Merc and a high school ring dated 1982 from the same high school I graduated from in 1983. The owners initials are engraved inside so I'm doing an internet search to track him down and return it. HH

Nice finds Mike. :clapping: Is that the Buffalo nickle next to the Merc  It almost looks like a V nickle. Always a pleasure to see a large silver coin inside the hole lol Hope you find the owner and he appreciates your hard work. I bet he will be surprised to say the least.

Your right, that is a V Nickel. I wanted to post the buffalo. I found the V Nickel the same day as the Merc, but it's so far gone I can't make out the date. You have a good eye!

Hey Steve, the owner might be in your Senior yearbook if you have one, he would've been in 9th grade right? Oh wait he would have been in Junior High back then... I'm about as old as ya'll - graduated in 1986. You know someone's 'up there' if they went to Junior High instead of Middle School.
