I've been doing a lot of research lately using old plat maps and my new GPS. It led me to an old church and school that is off the beaten path. I got permission from the priest to hunt the site and headed out today to check it out. My first signal was a wheat at 4 inches. After that I knew the site had potential and I was right. I made 6 passes of about 100 feet each in 3 hours. I ended up with 90 cents in clad, 16 wheat's the oldest was 1918 and several were in the 20's.Now for the silver, a no date Walking Liberty half, 1942 Washington, 1960 Rosie and 7 Merc's 25, 28, 37, 39-S, 44, 44-D & 45. The old coins were 4 - 8 inches deep. The heart locket is gold plated, I guess you can't win them all.
The church was built in the 1890's and the school was built in 1920. The school is now a duplex and the church is used infrequently The good news is I only covered about 10% of the detectable area.
