Token from my home town

I was in Fond du Lac, WI this weekend and got some hunting in at my grandparents. I didn't find any silver but did find a few wheat cents and lots of relics and trash. My best find for the weekend was this token. It is 23mm in diameter. Charles Hass is listed in the 1880 US Census as a saloon keeper, and is listed in the 1884-1885 city directoy as operating a saloon at 463 Main St. While my grandparents house dates only to the 1930's this token is from the 1880's or early 1890's because by 1893 Charles is no longer listed as a saloong keeper in the directory. That saloon token is in great shape. I'd research his genealogy and find out his present living relatives and demand that 5 cent drink lol Nice looking (30's??) car too. Some keepers there for sure. I have a lot of them relic hunts where no good coins are found, just relics. Usually the next time I go back, I get the coins :confused: Good hunt!

Thanks for the nice comments! I am a pretty avid genealogist and have already looked at that, but didn't think about cashing it in!! It appears as though Charles Hass and his wife Minnie had no children.

Sure is a small world! I am an avid Fond du Lac history person so this token means a lot for me. I grew up in Fond du Lac and left for Milwaukee in 1991.

Thats a different token too. Usually the letters are raised not recessed. Pretty unique :yes: 8)
