I was able to sniff out an 1843 Large Cent and a 1740 1 real today. I haven't had a copper and a real on the same hunt in some time. They were about 2 feet apart right up close to the cellar hole's well. The real is from a Mexican mint and is in nice shape.

The buttons above the spike were from last week.

more than a 100 years apart :wow:, those people were there along time ! sure must of been a lot of stonework done around there and I bet a lot of iron around the cellar too.

Congrats Jeff

Dan you are right on all accounts. If you go by coins as an indicator, 1738 is the earliest and 1843 is the latest. 11 coins were from the 1700s and 18 coins were from the 1800 to 1843.

Great finds thx for posting. WD It is amazing to see the age between those two finds and what all took place between each one being lost.

What an incredible site that must be! Such a wonderful variety of really old coins. That 1843 Large Cent must have been brand new when it was dropped! It has really sharp detail.

And that 1740 One Real!!!! All I can say is WOW! :shocked04:

:congrats:
