A Happy Return After 65 Years

I found this token on July 5 in the back yard of a house here in Robinson. I posted a picture of it on a Facebook Group about the local history of Robinson, Illinois. A few days ago my wife received a phone call from Susan Hays. Apparently a friend had told her about my Facebook post. She still lives in Robinson, and she told my wife she would like to have the token if I didn't mind.

So this past Saturday my wife and I went to her house to give the token to her. She was absolutely thrilled, and told us that Bob Farrer was her boyfriend when she was 13 years old. She is 78 years old now. The token was found in the back yard of the house where she grew up. We had a very pleasant visit with Susan and she told us a lot about the history of the house where I found the token.

I know my day was made, and I think hers was too.

That's absolutely amazing Tony , I can only imagine how holding that token again made her travel back in time with memories . Great story

That's awesome , good job ! Congrats on a cool experience ! I remember when I was a kid the machines that printed those tokens where at pretty much all the amusement parks . There were some that held a penny in the middle .That aluminum held up very well ! It's was great to return something that had such a sentimental meaning to someone .I wonder if old Bob is still around ?

What a great story Tony! For being an aluminum token it is in great condition too! I wonder if this will enable her and Bob to reconnect and be friends again.

Great story. I have found a few of those but neber took the time to research. Wouls be neat to do a return on an item like that. Thx for posting. WD
