I decided to take the Minelab to the yard that I found a 1900 Barber quarter earlier this year with my 250. I wasn't able to hit on any silver but I did find about a dozen wheats from the early teens.
A little while later a got a nice solid penny signal, but just a little off of where the wheats hit on average for me. In the hole was sitting my second ever IH cent... dated 1865. <: My earliest coin to date. :happydance01:
About 6 feet later I get another penny signal a lot like the last one. With my fingers crossed, I was hoping it would be the third IH of my metal detecting career... turns out to not only be my third, but fourth as well!!
eace: 1883 & 1887 in the same hole.
The '83 and '87 should clean up nicely. The '65 is a little rough.
Also got a tiny hammer and what appears to be a junk ring... no marking or stamp.
I suppose with all the nails I've dug in my life, it only seems reasonable that I would eventually dig a hammer too. lol
Well, the rain pushed me out from my hunt, but I think I'll plan on going back. There's gotta be more than that one silver I found there earlier.
