Milestone on Mercury dimes

Thought I would get to this milestone a little earlier but it's been a tough silver year. Took advantage of the great weather today and was able to find 2 Mercs and a Rosie. The 2 Merc's put me at 650 in my ninth season of hunting. I also picked up 10 wheaties with some older ones but they are in need of some serious cleaning. If the weather holds I may get to 100 hundred silvers yet. We'll see. Wisconsin Digger PS found a neat looking silver ring as well

That is a remarkable feat! It is obvious you are an accomplished detectorist who knows your machine. This is my 9th year as well and I bet I have less than 400 mercs...maybe less than 300?

Close! I started out with one of the first detectors that Charles Garrett built in his garage! My parents bought it new in 1968 and I still have it.

My roots go back to the early 70's as well. I still have the last detector I was using back then. I think it was called "Ground Master" by Garrett as well. I don't get a lot of old stuff, as shown by Digger Don finding as many Indians in a season as I have found in 9. Wisconsin does have a ton of parks started in the 30's(thx FDR) that account for a lot of the silver.
The ring stone is pretty beat up but it looks more like an oyster shell with some of the irredescent colors. No key date coins not even a '21. Never had much luck finding any key date coins but I guess that is why they are key dates as they are hard to find. Wish I had more old dirt but I am glad I have lots of silver opportunities even if its newer. Onward to 1500 silvers. Thx Wisconsin Digger
