Hey diggers,
I was detecting a plowed field and got a screamer signal. Turned out to be a late 1700's apothecary weight. This particular type is called nested cups because each one sits inside the next. What is so neat about this one is it has 9 different date stamps where it was certified as being accurate (year after year). I am trying to locate a guide to German date marks of the 18th century so I can determine exactly what years it was used. Here's a pic of a complete set to give you an idea of what they look like. Thanks for looking and happy digging! Dave.

That is an awesome relic, Dave, and it is in great shape! The stories it could tell! I love all the inspection stamps in the bottom. I hope you are able to find out more about it.

Such craftsmanship that obviously contributed to its preservation which is in amazing condition for being buried for 250 + years. Great find, great article, cheers

Nice dig, Dave! Haven't you dug another type of weights? Not the henways either. :) I seem to recall you digging a set of something.
Congrats!!!
