Hey Diggers,
Today I paid a visit to a section of woods only 3 miles from my house. A huge battle occurred here on April 13th 1793. 70,000 French against 40,000 Prussians. The Prussians won. This section of woods is well known and has been detected to death! It was more than an hour before I got my first high-tone. I found fragments of exploding cannon balls, iron grape shot (canister shot?), musket balls (including 4 in the same hole), some great buttons, and 3 coins! The silver coin is dated 1737. I put a pic showing just how thin these silver coins are. This is why they ring up just like foil. The copper coins were lost a few years after the battle though. One is dated 1804 and the other is worn smooth. Here's some pics, thanks for looking. p.s. I will do electrolysis on the iron items.
