Back to the Park I have been hitting the last couple of weeks and it turned out great. Signals are much less but with all the nails and iron there are still plenty of hidden ones. I had already found a Merc and Washington when I dug another Merc. I worked around the signal a bit when I got back to the original plug. Almost out of the blue I got a really strong high signal right next to where I dug the Merc. I was convinced I had another silver but the coin ended up being deeper. When I picked it up I thought I had a token or a bigger British penny. Nope it was a 1829 Large cent. Also, figured out why the signal seemed to come from no where, there was a big chunk of rusty crud on the surface of the coin. great surprise and the large cent is in great shape. Love surprises. Well done! Great silvers and an even greater LC! Interesting wear pattern on
the back of the LC.

Finding a largie in Wisconsin is rare at best, not to mention being in that good of condition, and in a park too! Nice bonus silver as well. Congrats on a great hunt!

WOW,That IS in great shape! It looks like some iron was right next to it....and as Bucknut said, that's some weird wear on the reverse...like it might be a brothel token? Congrats on a super find!!!:clapping:On another look, the O in "one" is also worn so probably just natural wear.

That 1829 Large Cent is a wonderful find! And in a park, no less! Coins that old are very rare here in the Midwest. Wow, 190 years old, soon to be 200!
:congrats:

I noticed the wear pattern as well. I just thought it was smacked with something but who knows, always fun to ponder why. Thx WD
Gotta love large cent. Always a surprise.
